What's it all about?

Well, Christianity is all about Jesus - the Son of God. He lived over 2000 years ago and Christians learn about Him and His teachings and follow his ways. We try to model ourselves on his life and teachings. We can think of God in three different ways:

  • God the Father -      Jesus taught us to love God and to love each other.
  • God the Son -      God sent Jesus to live as a human being in order to save humanity from the      consequences of its wickedness - the bad things the world had chosen to do      which had separated them from God.
  • God the Holy Spirit -      Christians believe that through the death and resurrection of Jesus this      broken relationship with God is restored.

The Bible is split into the Old Testament and the New Testament. The New Testament is where we can find out about the birth, life and teachings of Jesus and what happened after He died. It's a fascinating story! Have you got a bible at home? There are lots of really good ones in bookshops that are easy to read and full of pictures from the bible. So - what's church all about? We often think of church as the building. It is of course - but it's a lot more than that. It's about the people who go there to worship God and give thanks for His Son - Jesus. A typical Sunday service for the family will have songs and stories and sometimes there's messy church! This is where we can have fun - playing and creating things. Some churches have activities in the week - after school - where we can have fun and explore together. Sometimes these take place in church but sometimes in someone's house. We also have 'Communion' services where we celebrate Jesus' life and share bread and wine just like Jesus did with his followers.

Learning about Jesus

the seriously surprising story

A short video based on Luke 24:13-35; The Road to Emmaus. The story is told in rhyme with animation making it enjoyable for all to watch. Enjoy!

The story of the creation

This is the story of the beginning - the Creation. Starting with God creating everything, we follow the birth of Adam, then Eve and finally ... the forbidden fruit.
