Parish Finance Officer
We are looking for a self motivated, experienced bookkeeper or accountant to take over the Parish accounts. This part time role will start at 10 hours per week but has planned opportunities for growth. You will be working from home or from the Parish Office and, for the right person, we can be flexible with the time and days you work. The rate of pay will £12-£15 per hour. Recording all financial transactions for the Parish.
Maintaining our Data Developments MyFundAccounting online finance software.
Ensure timely payment of invoices and expenses.
Monitor and reconcile bank statements and other financial documents to ensure accuracy.
Issuing quotes and invoices for all Parish hirings and ensuring payments are collected.
Ensuring collection of all Occasional Offices fees (Weddings and Funerals) and distributing payments.
Maintaining Gift Aid records and making quarterly claims.
Completing other claims/returns and supporting with fund raising applications.
Preparing budgets and reporting to the PCC and it’s officers.
Work with the Treasurer/independent examiner in preparing end of year accounts.
Providing the above services for other churches in the Deanery/Diocese as required/requested.
Providing administrative and clerical support as needed.
Additional bookkeeping duties as designated by the PCC or your Line Manager
Proven experience of working in finance role, ideally within the charity sector.
Proficiency in using Accounting Software, ideally Data Developments MyFundAccounting online.
Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent organisation and time management skills.
Ability to work well with minimal supervision.
Good multi-tasking skills and the ability to prioritise workload.
Good communication and interpersonal skills with church officers having little/no financial background.
